Flow and mist explosion coupling process of liquid fuel from storage tank under explosion
Liquid fuel storage tanks are important targets in warfare and terrorist attacks, and their safety assessment forms the basis of effective protection. The prediction of the harmful effects in the area outside the tank after rupture under explosive load is essential for effectively preventing chain explosion processes. This paper examined energy output in the coupling of dispersal and detonation of liquid fuel under explosion load using numerical simulation. The results show that the detonation occurs at the same time as the liquid fuel disperses to form a cloud in the cylindrical device of the JP10 liquid or JP10/IPN mixed liquid fuel under the explosion load of the central explosive charge. For 0.5 kg JP10 in a cylindrical device, the times for the chemical reaction to start are 0.43, 0.27, 0.08, and 0.06 ms, and the locations for the chemical reaction to start are 0.22, 0.20, 0.12, and 0.09 m, respectively, for the center-charge/fuel mass ratio of 5%, 10%, 15%, and 21%. At the center-charge/fuel mass ratio of 15%, the peak explosion pressure of the 0.5/0.5 JP10/IPN mixture reaches its maximum at the far field among the examined mass ratios 0.3/0.7, 0.5/0.5, and 0.7/0.3 of JP10/IPN.
