P043 Positional therapy trial in supine predominant OSA
Abstract Introduction This ongoing study explores the utility of positional therapy in managing positional obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) using a structured two-week intervention. Methods Participants with supine-predominant OSA (diagnosed via Type II PSG with Nox SAS) trial the Night Shift device. Following CPAP refusal or failure, participants are observed for 7 days with device in passive mode. If supine sleep persists, the device transitions to therapy (vibration) mode. Results (pending) Sleep architecture, respiratory indices, desaturation indices, and positional data are collected pre- and post-intervention. Primary endpoints include changes in respiratory and sleep parameters. Discussion Preliminary trends suggest supine avoidance may meaningfully reduce RDI in patients with position-dependent OSA. The graduated protocol, observational to therapeutic, may assist adherence while minimising unnecessary intervention. This study may support a targeted approach to OSA management in patients who cannot or will not tolerate CPAP therapy.
