Dear Reader, 10th September 2024 marked the beginning of a new chapter in India`s pursuit to become a “fully developed nation” by 2047, the centenary of our independence. On this day, the Prime Minister chaired the first meeting of the Governing Board of the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF). The focus of the meeting included India`s science, technology and innovation landscape, redesigning Research and Development programmes, identifying and removing obstacles in the country’s research ecosystem, promoting collaborations and supporting researchers, with a singular purpose to contribute to India’s scientific and technological advancement. Established in February 2024 under the ANRF Act 2023 to unlock India’s innovation potential and achieve global scientific excellence, the mandate of ANRF is “Seed, Grow and Promote” research across the nation. This endeavour places India alongside the few countries with a structured, national-level research body, dedicated to the nation`s R&D ecosystem, driving innovation and scientific progress.
