DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN BIOLOGY EDUCATION

In the 21st century, biology education plays a crucial role in developing students’ analytical thinking, research skills, and ecological awareness. While traditional lectures and laboratory methods provide foundational knowledge, they often fail to fully engage students or offer sufficient opportunities for practical application. This study explores the integration of digital technologies, including virtual laboratories, 3D models, animations, AI-based learning platforms, and electronic assessments, into biology lessons alongside conventional teaching methods. Observations indicate that the combined use of digital and traditional resources enhances student engagement, facilitates comprehension of complex biological concepts, and improves both theoretical understanding and practical skills. AI-based tools enable personalized learning and more accurate assessment of individual progress. Despite these benefits, challenges such as insufficient technical infrastructure and limited teacher digital competencies persist, highlighting the need for continuous professional development and improved access to educational resources. The findings suggest that integrating digital technologies with traditional biology instruction can significantly enhance teaching effectiveness and foster 21st century skills among students.
