Abstract

The 1920s-1930s in the history of Russian education represented an era of radical transformations, when a fundamentally new system of pedagogical education was formed to meet the challenges of socialist construction. The history of pedagogy occupied a special place in this process as an academic discipline designed to develop in future teachers a scientific worldview and an understanding of the laws of development of pedagogical thought from the perspective of Marxist- Leninist ideology. The development of this academic discipline in the USSR was influenced by political and ideological transformations. This article provides a comparative analysis of the theory and practice of teaching the history of education in Russian universities and universities in Western European countries.
