THE TRANSFORMATION OF KOROGHLU INTO A HERO AS A THEO-COSMOGO NIC INITIATION PROCESS
In the Azerbaijani versions of the "Koroglu" saga, it is not described how Koroglu was born from his own mother. Rovşan is the name of Koroğlu before his bravery. After he was named from the stage of adolescence to the stage of bravery, he received the name Koroglu accordingly. The transformation of Rovsha into Koroglu takes place through the initiation ceremony. The most important aspect in the process of turning Rovsha into Koroglu is that this transition takes place with the participation of gods who represent the forces of nature (elements). That is, by creating a new hero named Koroglu from Rovshan, the gods turn him into the theognic Tanrıoğlu. He turns from an ordinary man (Rovshan) into an invincible hero who receives power from his guardian gods. In the creation of Koroglunu as a hero, most of the theogonic images of Oghuz-Turkish mythology take part in the status of primordial elements of nature (Mountain Khan, Ulduz Khan, Tree Khan, Fire Khan). Like Koroglu himself, war horses and weapons are associated with divine powers, carrying theogonic semantics. Kirat and Durat belong to the breed of sea stallions. This indicates their theogonic origin. The process of Rovsha's transformation into Koroglu is connected with the gods representing the elements of nature from beginning to end and with all its details. This confirms that he was included in the Oghuz-Turkish theogonic system as Tanrıoğlu. Key words: theogony-theo-cosmogony, Rovshan, Koroglu, initiation, passage ritual, Son of God
