Pharmacological approaches to anti-age therapy
Modern medicine offers a comprehensive approach to slowing down the aging process, combining the latest achievements of various scientific fields. Anti-age therapy is based on the use of pharmacological drugs with proven geroprotective action, such as metformin (AMPK activator), rapamycin (mTOR inhibitor), and NAD⁺ boosters (NMN, nicotinamide riboside), which influence key mechanisms of cellular aging. A promising direction is cell therapy using mesenchymal stem cells, which promote tissue regeneration and restoration of body functions. Particular attention is paid to the correction of the intestinal microbiome through fecal microbiota transplantation, which has a positive effect on metabolic processes and cognitive functions. Hormonal regulation remains an important component of the anti-aging strategy, including replacement therapy with DHEA, melatonin, and sex hormones to compensate for age-related hormonal deficiency. Thus, anti-age medicine is being transformed from a theoretical concept into a practical discipline, offering real tools for extending the period of healthy and active life.
