“Y el país se va desangrando…”: El ejercicio de la violencia y la estructuración de la identidad en La Pestilencia
The main objective is to analyse the violent practices and, moreover, the structuring of an identity in the discography released (between 1989 and 2001) by La Pestilencia. In each album, songs were selected whose lyrics describe the exercise of violence by various armed actors, compositions that denounce, question and detail the escalation of war. The songs show that each action is the result of a previous event, but it is not possible to identify the origin of such practices, and the difficulty is that each armed actor does not intend to reduce the response to the attacks suffered, as they seek to neutralise or eliminate their rivals, resorting to new ways of doing so and generating terror among citizens. It was therefore essential to contextualise them within the cultural, historical, political and social framework of Colombia - particularly during the 1980s and 1990s - to understand their significance.
