We served as each other’s strongest supporters, consistently attending webinars, meetings, and check-ins. Beyond their involvement with TACUSPA, we kept one another informed about personal and professional developments, such as pursuing advanced degrees or considering career changes. Though there were lighthearted moments of reluctance when someone considered leaving, we never wavered in prioritizing each other’s growth and future opportunities. As we examine the impact of TACUSPA on our growth, we also provide insight into how community-centered engagement can sustain and inspire student affairs professionals throughout their careers.

Abstract

This article shares the personal journeys of five student affairs professionals and the pivotal role TACUSPA has played in our development. Through storytelling, we reflect on the experiences, relationships, and opportunities that shaped our careers and helped us find purpose in the field. While each narrative is unique, common threads include the impact of the professional community, moments of growth, and the value of shared experiences. The group maintained our connection through a group chat and regular meetings, allowing us to continue brainstorming and implementing new ideas.
