ANALYSIS OF THE ENEMY’S COUNTERBATTERY COMBAT SYSTEM IN THE DONETSK DIRECTION

The article analyzes the peculiarities of the organization and conduct of enemy counter-battery combat in the Donetsk direction. The main functional elements of the counter-battery fire system are identified - reconnaissance, control, fire damage and support - and their interrelation and impact on the overall effectiveness of combat operations are also investigated. Special attention is paid to radar and radio reconnaissance equipment, automated control systems, communication channels and logistics. Critical vulnerabilities have been identified that can be used to reduce the effectiveness of enemy counter-battery combat. The results obtained can be used to improve means of countering enemy artillery and increase the effectiveness of fire support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Modern combat practice shows that counter-battery warfare remains one of the key elements of achieving fire superiority on the battlefield. Analysis of the enemy’s actions in the Donetsk direction demonstrates a high level of organization of the counter-battery fire, in particular, the effective integration of reconnaissance, fire, information and communication, and logistics components into a single functional system. The main elements of this system are reconnaissance, control, destruction, and support. The enemy conducts counter-battery warfare at various levels, from operational to tactical. This approach provides flexibility in decision-making and autonomy of units, and also allows for a reduction in the time from target detection to its destruction, which is critically important in the conditions of the maneuvering nature of modern combat operations. The ability of the russian armed forces to successfully conduct counter-battery combat against artillery units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine depends on its ability to integrate its capabilities for conducting radar and radio reconnaissance, electronic warfare, artillery fire, and missile strikes in a short time. An analysis of counter-battery warfare by enemy units shows that the doctrinal basis of the russian federation requires effective counter-battery warfare, which is ensured by: the transmission of information on a time scale close to real, from radar stations through an automated control system to firepower, for rapid detection and destruction of enemy targets.
