Le case editrici lillipuziane e la loro offerta delle traduzioni polacche di letteratura italiana per l’infanzia (2000–2020)
In the period from 2000 to 2015, with repercussions felt until 2020, the Polish publishing market for children and young adults was sparked by a group of publishing houses that, for their small size, came to be referred to as Lilliputian. Newly founded, independent and change-seeking through their revaluation of the children’s and young adult book, the Lilliputian publishers quickly accumulated considerable symbolic capital, taking position at the autonomous, though structurally subordinate, pole of the Polish publishing market (see Bourdieu, 1999; Jankowicz et al., 2014). Translations formed an important part of all Lilliputian publishers’ production. In this paper, we offer an account of the books released by the Lilliputians from 2000 to 2020, with a special focus on Italian children’s and young adult literature. By examining their publishing production, we determine the place that literature and authors from Italy took in the overall output of the Lilliputian publishers in the time frame under study.
