Among the typical Armenian carpets, the "Lori-Pambak" type of carpets are unique and characterized by a stylized, large cross ornament, which we classified as the "Lo-ri-Pambak cross ornament". In the course of our research, we discovered two more types of carpets characterized by versions of that ornament, which we named "Lori" and "Pambak". We included them in the "Lori-Pambak" subgroup. As a result of a historical and comparative study of ethnographic fieldwork materials of the 19th – early 20th centuries, written sources, and visual sources of earlier periods, we made certain clarifications in the issues of genealogy, areas of distribution, as well as the ethnic affiliation of the carpets of this subgroup. It is unacceptable and unreasonable for us to compare the central ornament of the carpet decoration system of this subgroup, the stylized cross, with the rosettes (gyol) of Turkmen carpets.
