Prescribed‐time adaptive sliding mode control for voltage regulation in DC‐DC boost converters

Abstract This article proposes a novel adaptive sliding mode control (SMC) strategy integrated with a prescribed‐time (PT) adaptive state estimator for precise voltage regulation in DC‐DC boost converters. The key novelty lies in the development of a PT estimator that guarantees user‐defined finite‐time estimation of unknown input voltage and load variations in a DC‐DC converter, independent of initial conditions. Unlike conventional constant‐gain estimators, the proposed approach employs a switched‐gain mechanism to ensure both fast convergence and high steady‐state accuracy. Building upon this estimator, a PT SMC is designed to achieve robust output voltage tracking within a user‐defined time, regardless of system uncertainties. The combined estimation and control framework ensures enhanced transient response and robustness to residual input voltage and load variations. Extensive simulation and experimental validation supported by comparative performance metrics confirm the practical effectiveness and superior performance of the proposed method.
