ELECTROCHEMICAL SYNTHESIS OF HYDROGEN PEROXIDE ON ANTHRAQUINONE-MODIFIED CARBON/POLYMER COMPOSITE
Electrochemical synthesis of hydrogen peroxide on anthraquinone-modified carbon/polymer composite is performed. The method of chemical modification of the electrode is improved by using the water-acetonitrile medium and acetone for sorbent purification; the electrode potential and polarization time is found to affect the hydrogen peroxide production. During oxygen electroreduction, hydrogen peroxide was accumulated by potentiostatic cathodic polarization of a gas diffusion electrode with a thin film of anthraquinone-modified carbon/polymer composite coated on it. The anthraquinone introduction is found to lead to the maximum of hydrogen peroxide accumulation appearing in the first polarization wave of the cathodic oxygen reduction, thus reducing hydrogen peroxide formation overpotential and increasing the current yield.
