Comparative analysis of the organisational and legal frameworks governing the economic activities of religious organisations

The study is relevant due to limited research on the economic role of religious organisations in Central Asia and Ukraine, where restrictive legal frameworks hinder their economic activities despite their significant social impact. This study aimed to analyse the organisational and legal aspects of the economic activities of religious organisations in Kyrgyzstan, with a focus on identifying existing problems and proposing solutions within the framework of existing legal norms. The methodology was based on the analysis of existing legal acts, legal doctrines, as well as empirical data and statistical materials on the activities of religious organisations published by national governments. The study also conducted a comparative analysis of the legal systems of Central Asian countries (Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan) and Ukraine, which allowed us to identify specific features in the approaches to regulating this area. Among the main findings were the key problems faced by religious organisations in conducting their business activities, such as difficulties in legal regulation, insufficient protection of legal interests, as well as administrative and tax barriers. The study also emphasised the importance of developing mechanisms for raising legal awareness and protecting the interests of religious organisations at all levels of state and public life. The study provides specific recommendations to improve legislation and regulation, enhancing the economic efficiency and social impact of religious organisations in Kyrgyzstan
