Identification lawsuits for martyrs in Uşak (1931–1934)
Turkish nation; there were many martyrs in the First Balkan War, in the First World War, which brought an end to the existence of the Ottoman Empire, and in the War of Independence, in which it refused to accept the shirt given to it by the Treaty of Sevres and fought for independence. Due to the conditions of the time, the families were only able to identify their martyrs in the following years. The martyrs who are the subject of the study were seen in Uşak as well as in the entire Ottoman geography of the period. In the research carried out in this direction, the Uşak Civil Court of First Instance dealt only with the martyrs; it was found that a total of thirty-six cases were concluded in three years, six in 1931, fourteen in 1933 and sixteen before the end of 1934. It has been observed that about half of them were martyred outside the borders of today's Republic of Türkiye and two of them did not specify where they were martyred. It is seen that approximately half of them were martyred outside the borders of the current Republic of Türkiye and the place of martyrdom of two of them cannot be determined.
