Assessment of EEG Based Cognitive Enhancement for High Performance
Cognitive enhancement is very important for improving attention, flexibility, and overall mental performance in every individual. EEG based assessments provide a direct and objective measure of neural activity associated with cognitive enhancement. This study investigates the impact of cognitive tasks like Posner task, Stroop Test and Reverse Stroop Test on brainwave patterns over multiple trials, by analyzing time domain, frequency domain and non-linear features. EEG signals are acquired from five healthy individuals (3 males, 2 females; aged 21-25 years) for 30 seconds from 7 channels (Fp1, Fp2, F7, F8, F3, Fz, F4) of pre-frontal and frontal regions, for five different trials and preprocessed using Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT), db6 and then features are extracted and analysed. By comparing pre-and post-task EEG data, it is found that there is an improvement in attention and reduction in response time with an increase in the number of trials. This shows that consistent engagement in cognitive tasks strengthens attentional control, leading to enhanced cognitive performance.
