A Review of Heterogeneous Network Convergence Technology and Development Trends

With the rapid development of information network technologies and the acceleration of industries’ digital transformation, the emergence of diverse application scenarios has led to the coexistence of numerous heterogeneous networks. This paper first elaborates on the growing demands for heterogeneous network convergence technology in multiple domains. Subsequently, it introduces the current state of research in domains such as the Internet of Things (IoT), military communications, intelligent transportation and industrial automation. Furthermore, by analyzing emerging technologies like 6G networks, artificial intelligence (AI) and computing-network convergence (CNC), this paper proposes three major future trends of heterogeneous network convergence. Finally, it discusses the challenges for future development, focusing on diverse security mechanisms and resource allocation strategies across heterogeneous networks.
