Foundation models in clinical trials: The advances and nuances
The extensive-scale deep learning models are exclusively fine-tuned to the vast corpus of clinical data and can perform various mundane jobs in clinical studies and allied areas. This short survey aims to provide insights on the technical nuances of various clinical trials assisting large language models derived from the state-of-the-art transformer architecture. The study includes recent models that promise to perform the different tasks involved in clinical trial activities with the utmost precision and accuracy. In conjunction with exploring the advancements in the field, this study also examines the challenges and concerns associated with utilizing large language models to process sensitive data. Our study can be a starting point for readers looking to delve deeper into the usage of large language models in clinical trials.
