Biocompatible Load Cell for Applications in Dental Diagnostics
Studies have aimed to develop methods for acquiring oral health data, particularly by collecting information on masticatory activity through force measurements. This measurement is important for identifying potential issues such as temporomandibular disorders (TMD) and bruxism. Force measurement methods reported in the literature often involve the use of plates or devices that interfere with the oral cavity. The field of the Internet of Dental Things (IoDT) has shown promise in overcoming these limitations, which aims to monitor oral health through sensors embedded in the teeth or dental arch. Thus, we propose a load cell made of acrylic resin, designed for use in dental diagnostics, with the aim of investigating the use of resin for load cells. Two load cells made of acrylic resin were analyzed, and experiments were conducted to evaluate their linearity, sensitivity, and behavior under different temperature conditions.
