Instrumentation and Automation of a Test Bench for Real-Time Torque Analysis
This work presents the development of an instrumented and automated experimental test bench to analyze torque behavior in three-phase electric motors. These motors are widely used in industrial, automotive, and automation systems, where minimizing torque ripple is crucial for improving energy efficiency and operational stability. Unlike existing commercial benches that typically provide only average torque values, the proposed system captures instantaneous torque data, enabling the extraction of maximum, minimum, and average torque in real time. The bench integrates precision instrumentation, including a torque transducer, an eddy current brake, and a microcontroller-based acquisition system. The analog signal is filtered and digitized for wireless processing and visualization. This platform supports dynamic motor characterization under realistic load conditions and provides a foundation for advanced control development and ripple mitigation strategies.
