Research on the Application of Facial Emotion Recognition in Aircraft Surveillance System

Air transportation has become a highly efficient and rapid mode of long-distance travel. In recent years, with increasing demand for air travel and growing flight volumes, more passengers are choosing aircraft as their preferred transportation method, making the enhancement of airline service quality and travel safety a critical focus. This study investigates the application of facial emotion recognition (FER) technology in aircraft surveillance systems. We present a comprehensive review of current FER applications, a systematic pipeline encompassing data collection, preprocessing, feature extraction, and classifier training to develop an emotion recognition system for aviation monitoring, and an alert mechanism that notifies crew members upon detecting abnormal emotions potentially affecting public safety, enabling timely risk mitigation while simultaneously improving service standards.
