Creative-Critical Practice

Abstract: This text in the form of a dialogue offers an analysis of the ‘creative-critical’, and reflects on the history and effects of a cluster of related terms: ‘creative writing’, ‘creative criticism’, ‘autotheory’, and ‘autofiction’. Exploring questions about AI and authorship, the weird and uncanny, ‘professing criticism’ (John Guillory) and deconstruction (Jacques Derrida), the text focuses on how, at least in some respects, English Studies has become a branch of creative-critical practice.
