2024 Impetus Platform Presentation Abstracts.
Introduction: Kinesiology Taping (KT) is a therapeutic intervention used to improve muscle performance in older adults. Its effectiveness, however, is subject to varying perceptions influenced by clinical exposure and outcomes. This study explored Filipino physical therapists' agreement on KT's physiological and therapeutic effects for the elderly in Central Visayas, aiming to address gaps between research and practice. Methods: A descriptive comparative cross-sectional design included 185 Filipino physical therapists from Negros Oriental, Cebu, and Bohol, selected through purposive sampling.Data were collected through paper-based and online surveys using a selfmade questionnaire validated for reliability and face validity to evaluate KT's effects.Statistical analysis identified patterns and demographic differences, with measures taken to ensure data reliability. Results: Findings showed 96.8% of the respondents were bachelor's degree holders, with most having less than five years of clinical experience.General practice was the most common field (42.7%).Respondents widely agreed on KT's positive effects. However, no significant correlations were found between demographic factors such as education, years of experience, and field of practice and their perceptions. Conclusion:The study found that demographic profiles were not significantly related to the perceptions of physical therapists on the physiological and therapeutic effects of KT.Regardless of educational attainment, years of experience, and field of practice, participants agreed that KT enhances muscle performance. These findings confirm KT's wide applicability in the Philippine PT practice while calling for continued education and standardized training for its effective use in widely varying settings.
