Green Synthesis, Characterization and Antimicrobial Investigation of Natural Surfactant-Capped Copper Nanoparticles
The plant has numerous therapeutic properties that can be utilized for bio-applications using nanotechnology in a cost-efficient and eco-friendly manner. Currently, the green approach for the synthesis of copper nanoparticles (Cu-NPs) owing to desired characteristics has gained more interest due to their substantial potential notably in biomedical applications. In the present study, we have employed the green approach to prepare the Cu-NPs using Caesia siemia leaf extract as a bio-reductor and capping agent. The synthesized CuNPs were characterized by UV-Vis Spectroscopy, FT-IR, Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The efficacy of the novel copper nanoparticle as an antimicrobial agent was investigated against gram-positive bacteria i.e. Staphylococcus aureus, gram-negative bacteria i.e. Escherichia coli, and fungus Aspergillus niger. It was found that copper nanoparticles are highly active against E.coli however others are significantly active against other selected microbials.
