Consideration of a differentiated approach in the physical training of student basketball players

This article presents the results of a comprehensive study investigating the effectiveness of a differentiated approach to physical training for student basketball players. The main objective was to scientifically justify the implementation of differentiated training programs tailored to the morphofunctional and psychophysiological characteristics of student athletes over the course of an annual training cycle. The study identified four distinct athlete types – “Athletes,” “Ectomorphs,” “Plastic,” and “Inert-Plastic” – each requiring specialized training strategies to maximize physical development and performance. A comparative analysis was conducted to evaluate changes in physical fitness across different training phases: the general preparatory stage, the special preparatory stage, and the competitive period. Various standardized fitness tests were used to quantitatively measure progress, including the 20-meter sprint, vertical jump, push-ups in 30 seconds, 2×40-meter run, Cooper test for aerobic endurance, and defensive movement drills. The findings demonstrated statistically significant improvements in all groups, with variations linked to the individual typological characteristics of the athletes. The research confirmed that individualized load programming based on morphofunctional and psychophysiological profiling leads to more targeted and effective development of key physical qualities such as speed, strength, endurance, and coordination. These results highlight the importance of moving away from uniform training programs towards personalized approaches in university-level basketball training. The practical implications of this study provide valuable insights for coaches and physical education professionals aiming to optimize training regimens and enhance athletic performance in student populations.
