FACTORS INFLUENCING DIGITAL IDENTITY FORMATION: EVIDENCE FROM HANOI
In the context of accelerating digital transformation, digital identity has become a cornerstone of cybersecurity, playing a crucial role in safeguarding personal data and ensuring secure access mechanisms in cyberspace. The proliferation of digital services and online platforms has heightened cyber threats, with rising incidents of identity fraud, data breaches, and unauthorized intrusions. Consequently, robust digital identity management is essential, not only for authentication and access control but also for compliance with international regulatory frameworks such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). However, the compromise of digital identities poses severe risks, enabling malicious actors to infiltrate sensitive systems and exploit personal information. In response, technologies such as multi-factor authentication (MFA), privileged access management, and real-time identity verification have become increasingly important for strengthening security resilience. This study examines the factors influencing users’ decisions in constructing their digital identities, offering recommendations to enhance identity governance and cybersecurity, and contributing to the development of a sustainable framework for digital identity protection in the era of hyperconnectivity.
