Diagnostics of the condition of a diesel engine by parameters of the thermal field of the external surface of its parts

The work investigated the possibility of determining the degree of carbon deposits in the combustion chamber of a diesel internal combustion engine based on the parameters of the thermal field of the outer surface of its elements. During the study, existing developments in the field of diagnostics of the presence of carbon deposits in the combustion chamber were analyzed. Based on the analysis of the literature, a mathematical model of the thermal state of an internal combustion engine during its operation was constructed. Using the developed model, computer simulations of the operation of a diesel engine without and with a malfunction were conducted using the ELCUT 5.1 software package. The results obtained allowed for the justification of using the temperature of the outer surface of the elements of a diesel engine as an indicator of the presence of excessive carbon deposits in the combustion chamber. Abstract
