Walter Benjamin e Dani Karavan: uma travessia entre história, instalação e cinema
This article proposes the enjoyment of the installation Passages, Homage to Walter Benjamin (1990-1994), by Dani Karavan, as a cinematic experience. In the field of perception and memory, taking the notions of framing, reality effects, flow-image, montage-effect, and cinema-effect, based on the writings of Merleau-Ponty, Aumont, Eisenstein, Bellour, and Dubois, Passages is analyzed as a vision device capable of providing a cinematic experience, despite the absence of a filmic image. As we walk through the interventions, as we recall visual impression and remember history, we experience an imaginary film — a cinema to awaken.
