Temperature-dependent absorption coefficient of ceramic Nd:YAG in the range of 30–100°C for various doping conditions

Ceramic Nd:YAG is an attractive gain medium for high-energy, high-power laser systems. In such systems, thermal analysis and gain profile optimization are essential for accurately predicting output performance. These efforts require absorption coefficients that depend on both temperature and doping concentration over a broad operational range. Although previous studies have reported measurement-based absorption data for Nd:YAG, their coverage has been limited in terms of temperature and doping level. To address these gaps, this study systematically investigated the absorption coefficient near the 808 nm band through spectroscopic measurements of Nd:YAG ceramics with five doping levels (0.2–1.0 at.%) at 5°C intervals from 30°C to 100°C. The resulting dataset provides a practical foundation for the design and optimization of ceramic Nd:YAG-based high-power laser systems across a range of operating temperatures and doping conditions.
