Effectiveness of anti-erosion measures on gray forest and podzolic soils
This article examines the effectiveness of anti-erosion measures on gray forest and podzolic soils. Anti-erosion measures promote soil conservation and obtaining high yields of cultivated crops. Agrotechnical anti-erosion methods are the most cost-effective with the shortest payback period. At the same time, autumn plowing across the slope and subsoiling gives an increase in yield from 0.6 to 1 kg/ha. The ridging of the autumn fields prevents the humus from being washed away by about 6 t/ha, and the yield increase is approximately 1.6 c/ha. The grassing of eroded lands contributes to the accumulation of humus in the soil and the production of high yields of agricultural crops. If continuous grassy and forest vegetation is present on the ravine lands, it prevents up to 70-80% of the solid, fertilizers and pesticides runoff from the arable land into the ravines. The number of biogenic substances carried away from arable land through forest belts also decreases on average by 4-5 times.
