Síndrome metabólico en pediatría
It is projected that 52 million infants under the age of five will show signs of overweight orobesity. Childhood obesity is a public health issue related to metabolic syndrome, whichincludes obesity, dyslipidemia, glucose intolerance, and a pro-inflammatory condition. Thesemodifications increase the likelihood of developing chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetesand cardiovascular conditions. This presents the case of a 10-year-old boy diagnosed withobesity at the age of 9, who developed metabolic syndrome. After making changes to his dietand exercising, he managed to lose weight and mitigate the syndrome. This case highlightsthe importance of lifestyle-oriented interventions to prevent and manage obesity in childrenand its complications.
