Study of the morphological and thermophysical properties of manganese ferrite nanoparticles and γ-irradiated samples
In our paper, we measured the surface morphology and thermophysical properties of manganese ferrite nanoparticles and tablet-shaped samples with specific dimensions of 4 15 5 mm 3 prepared on the basis of this compound. The manganese ferrite sample in the form of tablets was irradiated with -rays for 10 hours. The paper presents the surface morphologies obtained using an AFM (atomic force microscopy) device. The results show that the agglomeration process is clearly visible on both the surface of a conventional nanoparticle and the surface of the irradiated sample. This is due to the high surface energy of the nanoparticles, which have very small dimensions. The physical characteristics of the heat flow of the irradiated samples were measured using a differential scanning calorimeter. The DSC spectrum of manganese ferrite nanoparticles was measured in the temperature range of -100 . . .550 C, and samples of this material irradiated with -rays for 10 hours were measured in the temperature range of 0 . . .550 C. Based on the characteristics of the heat flux function of the samples, the values of the field energy, enthalpy and heat flux function were determined for the sample not exposed to gamma radiation, as well as for the sample exposed to gamma rays for 10 hours.
