Induced Cable Sheath Voltage Calculations Caused by Faults in Onshore Wind Parks
Proper bonding design and sheath voltage limiter selection require the calculation of the voltages and currents induced on the cable sheaths. This study involves real wind park data and characteristics to investigate the calculation of the induced voltages and currents on the interconnection cable sheaths of the 33 kV collector grid under fault conditions. Short circuit analysis on the basis of the IEC 60909 Standard and frequency scan simulations are combined by using two commercial software packages. The analysis includes three-phase and single-phase to ground fault events. Critical benchmarking on the simulation results obtained considering different types of wind turbine generation units and grounding resistances reveals interesting remarks and points for further investigations.
