Hardware-Oriented LUT Generation Algorithm for d—q Axis Stator Current Reference in Electric Drive Systems

This paper presents a revised algorithm for generating lookup tables for <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$d$</tex>- and <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$q$</tex>-axis stator current reference computation, developed within the framework of a standardized simulation tool for electric vehicle design. The proposed method builds upon earlier research in which the lookup tables were generated using a more flexible set of constraints – suited for simulation environments but difficult to implement on conventional control hardware. While those approaches allowed greater optimization freedom, they deviated from standard industrial practices, limiting their applicability in real-world systems. Motivated by experimental evidence demonstrating the control strategy's effectiveness in hardware-in-the-loop testing, this work introduces a constrained formulation that aligns better with typical control architectures. By explicitly enforcing stator flux as a fixed constraint rather than a soft upper limit, the algorithm simplifies integration into physical motor controllers without compromising model fidelity.
