ADLAS: An Integrated Hardware/Software Platform for the Implementation of Demand Side Management Logics in Thermal Energy Communities
In this work we present ADLAS (Automatized DSM Logics Application System), an integrated hardware/software platform designed for the supervision and monitoring of energy microgrids. The platform implements demand side management logics and has been tested on the S.A.P.I.EN.T.E. experimental system installed at the ENEA Casaccia Research Centre, which features a dual thermal and electrical nature. The microgrid includes photovoltaic and thermophotovoltaic energy generation, electrical storage via supercapacitors, thermal storage systems, and simulated thermal loads for domestic hot water and heating/cooling powered by a shared heat pump. Experimental results demonstrate the successful interfacing of ADLAS with the S.A.P.I.EN.T.E. system, enabling the monitoring of electrical and thermal parameters, the imposition of thermal and domestic hot water load profiles, and the activation of dynamic DSM strategies applied to the heat pump to follow renewable energy sources production, while maintaining thermal comfort.
