Can EEG of aesthetic reactions reveal who is in front of us, artist or non-artist?

The paper presents the classification of the EEG data on artists and non-artists reactions during the observation and evaluation of the paintings in conditions of a real museum visit. Classifications were carried out on merged together individual data of artists and non-artists. For classification were used EEG amplitudes (raw signal) with CSP application during (i) – first second from the start of silent watching of the paintings and (ii) - one second before made/demonstrated by subjects high or low evaluative decisions. Artists and non-artists were already highly differentiated during the first second of watching the paintings (2 classes, 88.8±3.1%) by means of SVM, which was better than EEGNet classification. The pre- high and pre-low decision states in artists and non-artists also differed with 86.8±4.3% and 97.2±0.8% accuracy correspondingly. At the same time two class classifications (high/low aesthetic decisions) carried out inside groups of artists and non-artists showed rather low results.
