Blockchain-Aided Uav Delivery Networks for Enhanced Data Security and Parcels Traceability
Integrating Hyperledger Fabric (HLF) blockchain technology into unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) logistics offers a cost-effective means to enhance the security and efficiency of goods delivery services. To achieve this, we develop smart contracts that enable UAVs to update real-time flight positions and package information on the blockchain ledger, ensuring secure goods tracking and data traceability. We address an interesting trade-off among secure goods tracking, on-chain costs, and energy expenditures. Our objective is to maximize the system's transaction throughput by determining the optimal transaction submission period for each UAV during the delivery service. We formulate the UAV delivery problem as a non-convex non-linear optimization problem and propose a heuristic energyaware algorithm to allocate transaction requests among UAVs fairly while meeting energy, network capacity, and transmission latency constraints. We then conduct a series of simulations to evaluate the performance of our proposed algorithm. Simulation results demonstrate that our proposed algorithm can benefit from the proper treatment of the trade-off.
