Study of a Dual-Hop Hybrid RF-THz Wireless System: Static Source, Dynamic Relay, and Destination
This paper presents an in-depth evaluation of a dualhop hybrid radio frequency-terahertz wireless communication system that enables end-to-end connectivity from a stable source to a hovering drone. Specifically, we derive exact analytical expressions for the probability density function, cumulative distribution function, moment generating function, and n-th moment of the end-to-end signal-to-noise ratio of the considered system utilizing the decode-and-forward protocol. We also obtain closed-form expressions, along with asymptotic expressions, for crucial performance metrics, including outage probability and average bit error rate. We also determine the diversity order, present a precise upper bound on the channel capacity, and derive a closed-form expression for the ergodic mutual information of the M-QAM constellation. Furthermore, critical insights are drawn by analyzing the impact of different design parameters on the system performance.
