Nomofobia en adolescentes: problema silencioso en una institución educativa colombiana
Nomophobia refers to the fear of being without access to a mobile phone. This study aimed to identify the risk levels of nomophobia among adolescents in basic secondary and middle school education in a Colombian educational institution. A descriptive study was conducted with a sample of 182 students, who completed the Nomophobia Questionnaire (NMP-Q). The instrument showed a Cronbach’s Alpha of .93, indicating high reliability. Results revealed that 90,11% of respondents have some level of nomophobia, with higher prevalence among females and adolescents between the ages of 12 to 16. The most highly rated items reflect social disconnection and emotional dependence on mobile phone use. These findings highlight the need to implement educational programs that promote responsible mobile phone use and address the psychological implications associated with nomophobia.
