High dynamic range and accurate 3D imaging based on adaptive laser line extraction
Laser line scanning (LLS), as a non-contact 3D measurement technique, has been extensively employed in component dimensional inspection, weld quality assessment, and reverse engineering due to its sub-millimeter accuracy, resistance to environmental interference, and cost-effectiveness. However, when measuring complex high dynamic range scenes, the uneven distribution of surface reflectivity on the measured objects induces variations in laser line width, which compromises the measurement accuracy of conventional laser line extraction approaches. In this paper, we propose a high dynamic range and accurate 3D imaging method based on adaptive laser line extraction, leveraging a multi-scale adaptive convolution strategy to enhance the measurement performance in highly reflective regions and geometric edges. Depth constraints are integrated to refine the search range of laser line extraction, substantially accelerating the computational efficiency. Experimental validation confirms that the proposed approach achieves high dynamic range, high accuracy, and efficient 3D profile measurement for objects with complex shapes and reflectivity, fulfilling precision requirements in industrial metrology applications.
