Monitoring Indicators in the Concept of Activity-Based Landscaping for the Development of Small Towns

The study examines the issues of small town development within the framework of the author’s concept of ac-tivity landscaping. A comparative analysis of the results of sociological research (questionnaire surveys) con-ducted in two small towns of the Nizhny Novgorod region ‒ Gorodets and Lukoyanov ‒ in 2022 and 2024 is presented. These small territories were selected for the study as traditional small towns with similar socio-economic characteristics, developed transport infrastructure, and differing development strategies. Particular attention is paid to the monitoring indicators of residents’ self-assessment regarding the comfort and quality of living conditions in the area, which are applied in the framework of the author’s concept of activity landscaping. Based on the analysis of the results of sociological research, the importance of monitoring indicators for as-sessing the conditions in which private practices and initiatives of social actors will be formed is substantiated.
