ANALISIS PRODUKSI KAKAO DI PROVINSI SULAWESI TENGGARA : TREN HISTORIS DAN PERAMALAN DERET WAKTU

Cocoa is one of Indonesia’s leading plantation commodities, playing a vital role in the economy and in supporting smallholder farmers’ livelihoods. Southeast Sulawesi Province is among the country’s main cocoa-producing regions, contributing substantially to the national output. However, statistical data indicate a declining production trend in recent years, which may threaten the sustainability of the regional cocoa industry. This study aims to analyze the production patterns of cocoa in Southeast Sulawesi Province, identify their direction of change, and forecast future production using time series approaches. Data were obtained from the Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) and include production (tons), harvested area (ha), and productivity (kg/ha). Descriptive analysis was first performed to observe patterns and tendencies, followed by time-series modeling using ARIMA and Holt-Winters exponential smoothing. Model performance was evaluated using accuracy metrics such as Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE). Results indicate a statistically significant declining trend in cocoa production, in line with shrinking harvested area, while productivity shows slight recent improvement. The additive Holt-Winters model achieved the best forecasting accuracy (MAPE 2.2%), projecting a continued production decline over the next three years. These findings emphasize the need for productivity improvement and farm rehabilitation efforts to maintain cocoa supply stability in Southeast Sulawesi Province.
