KINH NGHIỆM DẠY VÀ HỌC TIẾNG ANH TẠI SINGAPORE VÀ GỢI Ý CHO GIÁO DỤC TIẾNG ANH TẠI VIỆT NAM
This article analyzes the model of English language teaching in Singapore, a multicultural country with a clear bilingual policy, systematic teacher training, innovative pedagogical approaches and the integration of educational technologies. The paper compares Singapore’s success with the current situation in Vietnam, where reforms have been implemented but challenges remain, including regional disparities, uneven teacher quality, a grammar-focused approach, and limited opportunities for authentic language use. Based on these insights, the paper proposes practical recommendations for Vietnam: adopting consistent language policies, standardizing teacher training, leveraging technology, creating diverse learning environments and reforming assessment systems. In the era of digital transformation and global integration, strengthening practical English proficiency has become an urgent demand. Lessons learned from Singapore provide valuable guidance for Vietnam as it seeks to establish English as a second language by 2035.
