Teaching Paper: Risk Assessment Templates – A Practical Framework for Identifying, Evaluating, and Managing Risks in Non-Profit Organizations
Risk management is a cornerstone of resilience in the non-profit sector, where vulnerabilities and resource limitations heighten exposure to uncertainty. This Teaching Paper introduces three practical tools—Risk Identification Template, Risk Assessment Matrix, and Risk Register—that transform abstract risk concepts into actionable strategies. A case study illustrates how a community-based organization applied these templates to mitigate operational, financial, and compliance risks. Reflection questions, challenges, and practical tips are included to support critical thinking and continuous learning. The paper bridges academic theory with practical application, offering non-profits a structured yet adaptable framework for cultivating preparedness and accountability.
