Leveraging Social Media for Impact in Non-Profit Organizations
This article explores strategies for leveraging social media to enhance communication, engagement, and impact in non-profit organizations. It examines developing social media plans, creating diverse and interactive content, fostering audience engagement, and measuring performance for optimized outcomes. Emphasis is placed on platform-specific approaches, cost-effective tools, and volunteer or intern involvement to manage social media efficiently. Case studies from Charity: Water, Movember Foundation, WWF, Save the Children, and Habitat for Humanity illustrate practical applications of social media in advancing mission-driven objectives. Findings highlight that strategic social media use—incorporating storytelling, analytics, and collaboration—can significantly increase visibility, mobilize supporters, and strengthen community engagement, even in resource-constrained settings.
