A dataset of fresh egg shipments from major marketing regions in China (2018–2022)
<p indent="0mm">Fresh eggs are a highly nutritious food and play an indispensable role in the daily diet of Chinese residents. It is of great significance to grasp and analyze the historical shipment data of fresh eggs in specific regions, and explore the fluctuation law of the egg market, which can help balance the structure of egg production, stabilize market prices of eggs, and inform macro-level market regulation. Based on data from the National Key Agricultural Products Market Information Platform and the National Agricultural Products Wholesale Market Platform, this study collected and organized the annual and weekly data of fresh egg shipments from 15 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government) across China. Through data comparison, integration, processing, and quality control, a dataset was developed to reflect fresh egg shipments from major marketing regions from 2018 to 2022. The dataset includes both textual and visual data detailing weekly and annual shipment volumes, year-on-year changes, and week-on-week fluctuations at both the national level and for each of the 15 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government). This dataset is completed in accordance with the standardized procedures of data processing, and the results obtained are subjected to strict manual quality verification. It can provide basic data support for studying the market trends and price fluctuations of fresh eggs nationwide and at the provincial level.
