Capacious Embodiment and the Violence of Deliverance: A Feminist Perspective
Abstract From the perspective of a feminist research positioning, this article focuses attention on embodiment as an analytical category and deeply enfleshed reality when considering human-demon relationality. In taking the capacious religious body seriously, this article raises a number of ethical conundrums concerning the centrality of violence in deliverance rituals. The article calls attention to a feminist ethics of responsibility and probes the boundary-work at play when researchers offer critical insights into decolonial religious worldmaking.
