Effective Analysis of Enhancing Network Security Using Blockchain-Based IDS: Challenges, Trends, and Future Directions

The rapid expansion of digital infrastructures has intensified concerns regarding network security and data integrity, particularly with increasing complexity of cyberattacks. Conventional Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and access control mechanisms exhibit significant limitations, including centralized vulnerabilities, lack of transparency, and susceptibility to tampering. This paper presents a comprehensive survey that explores the integration of various security and Blockchain-Integrated Intrusion Detection Systems (BIDS) and smart contract-based access control to mitigate cybersecurity risks. The main objective is to analyse how blockchain strengthens IDS attained information helps and smart contract-based access control systems in contemporary network settings. As a transformative technology, blockchain offers a decentralized, immutable framework that enhances security and trust in networked environments. By analyzing recent advancements in blockchain-driven security models, the key research findings encompasses scalability, authentication complexities, and interoperability with existing architectures. The review further discusses emerging trends in decentralized security frameworks, highlighting their potential to revolutionize data integrity verification, real-time threat mitigation, and automated access control. Finally, the paper outlines future research directions to overcome adoption barriers and enhance the practical deployment of blockchainbased security solutions.
