Research on the Spatial Distribution Pattern of Shopping Mall Businesses Within Beijing Sixth Ring Road Based on Dianping Data

With the rapid development of urbanization and information technology, the spatial layout of shopping malls and user perception characteristics have become critical topics in urban commercial research. This study leverages rating and review data from the Dianping platform, integrated with spatial analysis and natural language processing (NLP) techniques, to investigate the spatial distribution patterns of shopping malls within Beijing Sixth Ring Road and their user perception dynamics. A word-ofmouth evaluation model was constructed using Principal Component Analysis (PCA), enabling the classification of 1,084 shopping mall facilities into word-of-mouth score tiers and the delineation of commercial zone hierarchies. Sentiment analysis was applied to 6,101 user reviews to identify key factors influencing consumer experiences. The findings reveal that: (1) shopping mall facilities and highreputation areas in Beijing are predominantly clustered in Dongcheng, Xicheng, and Chaoyang districts, exhibiting significant spatial agglomeration and confirming the dominance of core commercial zones; (2) Pricing strategies, locational accessibility, and transportation convenience emerge as primary dimensions of negative user feedback, highlighting shortcomings in pricing fairness, transit connectivity, and infrastructure support; (3) While service quality dominates review discussions, polarized perceptions suggest that most shopping mall still require resource integration to enhance competitiveness. This study validates the potential of new media data in urban commercial spatial research. It proposes strategies such as Transit-Oriented Development (TOD)-guided shopping mall diffusion and facility optimization to inform data-driven decision-making for urban planning and commercial layout. The innovation lies in the integration of objective and subjective data to unravel correlations between spatial patterns and user perceptions, offering theoretical and practical insights for smart city development and shopping mall industry optimization.
